President and CEO of Lanter Distributing / Owner
Joined Lanter in 1970
Bill has been involved with the company for over 40 years. Bill is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies; to plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance.
Bill’s most note-worthy accomplishment is leading the separation of Lanter Distributing from OHL. Bill wanted to have a hand in building a legacy for himself, his employees, and for his 4 sons. On April 1, 2012, Lanter once again became a family-owned and operated company. He acquired the assets of Lanter Distributing from OHL and become owner, Pres & CEO.
Bill’s career with Lanter began as a part-time job on the loading docks in 1970. This was right about the time when Lanter Company emerged as a competitor in refrigerated and frozen LTL distribution. As the company grew so did Bill’s responsibilities. When the company began expanding into new territories, Bill was tasked with managing various operations. Today, those who know “Lanter” recognize the company as a highly reputable service provider in LTL refrigerated distribution, much of which is attributed to Bill’s management teams.
The history of Lanter Distributing is rich. The original owner, Wayne E. Lanter became so successful partially because of his commitment to these values: Honesty and Integrity. Bill and his ownership team are as deeply committed to these same values and they look forward to continuing the success of Lanter Distributing.

Ryan began working at Lanter Distributing at a very young age as a warehouseman.
He became a warehouse supervisor and eventually worked his way up to the Midwest Regional Operations Manager. In this position he was responsible for several profit centers and their respective managers and supervisors.
In 2012, he became the Vice President of Operations. One of the primary functions of Ryan’s position is to oversee operations, work through operational challenges and be the conduit for bridging every-day challenges with problem-solving solutions.
Ryan does more than simply oversee all of the operations for Lanter Distributing. He is devoted to ensuring that the company is running at peak performance both financially and operationally to make sure our customers receive excellent customer.

Eric oversees Sales and Marketing at Lanter Distributing as well as analytical projects. Prior to joining Lanter, Eric worked for PwC (PricewaterhouseCooper) for eight years as a member of the Tax Products Delivery Group. Eric worked with top-level accountants at corporations of all sizes and organization styles. PwC was great training ground to learn how to achieve desired results in various situations as well as building strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Under Eric’s direction, the Sales team is responsible for cultivating leads, managing partnership relationships, developing client solutions, creating proposals and closing sales. It is fast paced and challenging. Business development is both art and science. It combines the technical and analytical demands of the industry with the human element of relationship cultivation and maintenance. Eric has a keen eye for detail and can assess when a customer might benefit from modified or enhanced services to help increase efficiencies and ultimately cut costs out of the client’s budget.
Eric also manages the operation in the Chicagoland area, a responsibility that includes overseeing the day-to-day operation and managing the P&L for the operation.
Eric works with the attitude that the hard work of an individual benefits the whole organization.
David Hoffmann
Joined Lanter Distributing, 1992
David joined Lanter more than 20 years ago as a warehouseman working from midnight until 5 in the morning loading trucks at the Lanter/Memphis location. Already back then, what fired David up was bridging the gap between people and creative solutions to their problems. To this day, David uses what he learned at 4am working on those docks to help benefit our customers. David served many roles: shift supervisor, Assistant Operations Manager, Operations Manager, Regional Business Development Manager, and Director of Sales, all of this is a great indication that David has had a ton of experience learning how the cold supply chain industry is wired.
David will tell you in his current role as Director of Sales that he’s more of a Freight Doctor. Every company has pain points. Every company has the opportunity to be more efficient and effective. David uses his experience, knowledge and skillset to provide companies with the perfect solution to their pain points. David enjoys networking, helping others, and building relationships.
Director of Logistics
Steve joined the Lanter team in 2016.
Steve is charged with building and managing the new service offering, Lanter Logistics. Lanter Logistics is the brokerage and freight management arm of the business.
Steve has more than 40 years of experience in the third party logistics industry. He started and built one of the first multi-service freight brokers and successfully sold the company and its employees. For the past 20 years he has provided management and advisory services to several start-up and asset-based brokerage firms.
Steve is passionate about service and finding innovative applications of technology and human resources to deliver exceptional performance. "Honesty and trustworthiness are what Lanter is all about,” he says. “Building a 3PL business on that foundation is exciting."
